Welcome! I’m so excited to serve as your mentor as you learn how to mentor others!
I suspect you may have already read about my life history on www.WomensOnlineCoachTraining.com or www.UnTherapy.com, and, because you’ll get even more of my story in your textbook: UnTherapy: A Positive Psychology for Enlightened Living, I’ll just share this.
I was a late bloomer. I didn’t know what I wanted to do in relation to a career until I was in my 30’s. I went back to finish my Bachelor’s degree seventeen years after I’d dropped out of college. When I finally completed my Master’s degree I was so excited about the research on the subject of enlightenment that I had done for my Master’s thesis, that I went on to get the Ph.D. in psychology, mostly so I could complete the research.
While I was studying psychology at the graduate level, I began to realize that my chosen profession was not wellness oriented. That meant that I was going to have to see patients with emotional and mental issues, which was not the demographic that I wanted to work with. I wanted to work with relatively healthy people who really just needed tools that would enhance their personal growth. I didn’t learn those tools in graduate school because they only taught me how to provide therapy to people suffering with a mental disorder.
So I set about to create UnTherapy while I was still in graduate school and I began making notes about everything that I would have liked to have learned so that I could teach practical life skills to others. I began teaching this course in Honolulu Hawaii in 1998. Over 200 people have graduated with a certification in life coaching from me since that time. I adore my work. I adore working with students from around the world. And I adore being able to travel myself now that I’ve retired from my own private practice as a life coach and can connect with my students through telephone, Skype, and FaceTime.
It’s always been the case that kindred spirits are the ones who resonate with my websites, my book, and my work in general. So welcome! I can’t wait to get to know you!
